Tea and Gaming Through

Normally I try to post as regularly as possible, but yesterday was a difficult day. We all have them and we all have different ways of dealing with them.

Traditionally gaming is seen as a violent and aggressive form of entertainment. The stereotype has perhaps lessened through time but many still associate gaming with fighting and swearing.

After coming home from a day of work and being informed of some sad news I made a cuppa (well I am British) and sat sipping my team at my desk. After a moment I automatically loaded up Steam and ran Cities Skylines. For me Cities Skylines is a relaxing game. It offered me a distraction and a goal to focus my mind on.

Making a city in between sips of tea, causing then solving traffic problems, it gave me a chance to calm myself and reflect on things. Gaming can be much more than a form of simple entertainment. Gaming can offer us something more, they are places to express our creative side, distract ourselves and reflect on what is going on in our lives. Gaming can help us to work through other events in our lives.

  1. Escaping into a video game every once in a while for a ‘digital holiday’ is a good thing. I find that I do my best thinking when I’m not thinking about the subject directly; and gaming provides the perfect distraction for that.

I’m sorry to hear about your sad news… I hope you’re doing ok. ❤

    1. Thank you. I think sometimes people really don’t understand how gaming can actually give you time to think as oppose to removing it!

Thank you for the comment, the shock of the news was the worst bit, today things are a lot better 🙂
