Elder Scrolls Online Review

Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) is a game that I have gained over 100 hours playing. Its a MMORPG based in the world of Tamriel and a game that I have a love hate relationship with.

The expansive MMO provides me with what I always wanted and that is a way to explore the entire (well almost entire) world of Tamriel. From Morrowind to the Summerset Isle being able to explore lands the single player games don’t cover or are only covered in older games is amazing.

Saying that there is one main issue I have with ESO, and that is that I don’t like MMOs. Its a matter of personal taste but I have a preference for single player experiences. ESO also has the problem of cost. While free to play there is an upfront cost and access to new areas from Orsinium to Morrowind will cost extra. And that fact that expansions like Morrowind it could be argued take advantage of the fanbases’ desire to return to areas they loved in the old games. Even through all of this I do love ESO, it is objectively a good MMO and out of all the MMOs I have tried to play ESO is the only one to maintain my interest.

ESO is definitely worth playing, its a good MMO but to me it is better seen as an MMO with a flavour of the fantasy world of Tamriel. For a true sense of the Elder Scrolls world Skyrim, Oblivion and Morrowind are the best games. The main games offer amazing, vibrant and exciting experiences in a world full of lore and hidden mysteries. For a great MMO showcasing some iconic locations of Tamriel  you can experience with your friends ESO is a great game, for an in depth, immersive experience of Tamriel then the single player games come up on top.

  1. Thank s for sharing! I’m becoming more and more of an MMORPG playing. For ESO I was ecstatic when it released because I was such a fan of Oblivion. I’m the opposite, I really wished that Oblivion was multiplayer so ESO was a great game. Except we couldn’t play at launch due to the servers being down. Also, some of the better weapons and gear, as you have stated come at a price. I haven’t played ESO in a while, but it is always one of those games that I will eventually return back to!
